Idaho is AWESOME (in the likeness of DJ Lance)

Our epic cross country adventure starts here.

Yeah. So after driving through the misleadingly wide state of Nevada, our journeys turned a bit North; actually a lot North. Neither of us had been through Idaho at all and it happened to sit in between California and Glacier National Park, the first place we planned to spend two nights. There aren't too many campgrounds open this time of year in the Northwest so I had to take what I could find.

This led us through Twin Falls, ID and the Snake River.....

past the Native American on the Dinosaur and the Icecave (it was closed and probably a good thing too since the dogs weren't exactly enjoying these historically accurate sculptures)....

past Ketchum and Sun Valley, which evidently is a hotbed for celebrities during the ski season, ...

all along the Salmon River past some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen....

ultimately to our stop at the Salmon River RV Park in Elk Bend, ID, population 5774 (I think that's a stretch since we only saw about 15 people). We didn't arrive until probably 4pm so it was starting to get dark as I began to set up the camper. At the same time in rolls a nice winter storm, complete with heavy wind and sideways snow. Pop-up campers are not really made for that type of weather, so she was rocking quite a bit and not for the good reasons. Nevertheless, we decided that it had not been very much fun setting up the camper (takes about an hour) in the late afternoon and getting up at 5am to eat breakfast, clean up, and take down the camper before getting on the road by 8, so we decided to stay here for two nights. Awesome decision by the way. Our hosts, Glenn and Marcia Ross, were awesome and since we were the only people in the park, we received first rate service. Instead of cooking breakfast, we ate at the country store on site, where our host adequately fed us. That day we did some exploring with the pups, who were having the time of their lives, just so you know. The cats, not so much.

While we were there, we drove to nearby Salmon where Dana forced me to stop in at the local brewery, Bertram's Brewery and sample some beers. Another quality choice.

We enjoyed our stay in Idaho more than I ever could have imagined and as our hosts put it, "Idaho is the US's best kept secret." I don't know about that but it was pretty awesome.

The epic adventure continues...
